Congrats. I have to give you credit though it has been in the 90's and humid all weekend so I did not even go out for trying to get geese. I did not want to put up with the heat.

RE: my first deer kill this year
Awesome! Great news. I had 2 does out of range late Saturday afternoon up here in northern NJ. It was about 81 degrees and cooling down to 71 by 6:30PM. Had two does walking along together and eating some acorns. Just out of range. Had it been shotgun season, no problem. This coming Saturday I will adjust my stand location to move slightly closer to where those deer came up the ridge and thru the brush. Fingers crossed.
Just as well that I did not get anything. I really wasn't prepared at home to butcher any deer Saturday night! |

Ive had several mature does I could have shot the last several days. Its still too hot to shoota doe where I hunt. By the time I could get it to the preocessing place it would be spoiled.

80 pounds field dressed? I try not to shoot the littler does. Not tellin you what to do. Congrats tho i cant wait to pop bambi's mom. My first deer was a button buck. My second was last year and it was a FAT DOE. Man o man was that some good eating.[:-]

RE: my first deer kill this year
80lbs?? Im not trying to put you down at all, congrats none the less, a deer is a deer and what I will say may contradict this statement. A deer is a Deer but in most states that deer is just a yearling like in Wi. I just hope youre not expecting to get 80lbs of meat off the deer. I would never shoot a yearling unless its wounded to the point to where it wouldnt make it through the winter.
