big bucks and corn piles?

RE: big bucks and corn piles?
mature buck will usually not hit bait piles...they have that 6th sense u should mix purina deer chow or something with the corn. buck ola is really good..and sweet. u might want to set up on a trail away from the bait...100 yds or so. the deer are there, but probably hitting the pile after dark. put 20lbs of 30-06 with protein in the ground near your bait pile...that will increase the deer flow as the season gets deeper.

just remember that for 2 weeks out of the year those big bucks will follow the does into the bait or linger just outside the area. thats why ive always said baiting is no sure thing. it gets the deer mostly doe-s to come to your hunting area then if you get back in a ways on a good trail you might get a crack at old mossy horns.

We use corn feeders at several locations, and here's my take on em. It would be highly unusual to see a buck over 1.5 years to come eating during daylight hours. But the area doe will practically race to it in the evening hours...especially when cool weather moves in and deer instinctively look to fatten up. If these feeders hold doe in the area throughout the season, there will be at some point a 10-14 day period when the mature bucks throw caution to the wind. If the doe hang around that food source, than your chances increase tremendously. Problem is will you be there when they come prancing thru!

If you keep your bait - well AWAY from stand 100-200+ yrds, not underneath (25-50 yrds from stand) - Bullwinkel might very well show up! Other key if baiting is, DO NOT walk around,on top of,beside, near, close to,or "check out the bait".Your putting your scent down for bullwinkel to whiffff. You want deer to PASS thru your hunting area not underneath your freekin stand!! The exact same holds true if you plant a food plot. Would you walk around,on top of,close to a food plot???
