Default Steps for stand hunting

I was thinking about making my own self-climber/hang-on depending on the situation and am alittle frustrated. Self climbing that part is easy climbing up and down but hang-on. A ladder is too much visual along with tree steps that you can buy in 5 ft sections and screws/strap on steps take awhile putting up not only the hassle of not having it in far enough. But is there any home made thing i can do, i thought about spikes and a rope like you see on lumber jack competitions climbing them poles.

I have thought about getting a set of lineman climbers.
The spike type that go on your boots.
The kind line men use to climb light poles.

What ever you do be carefull with home made tree stands.

A ladder will not spook game if you get it in the woods awhile before you plan to hunt. Deer get used to just about any of the craziest-looking objects as long as they are exposed to them for long enough to consider them a non-threat.

yeah ladders are great as long as the deer have some time to adjust. i would really recommend just getting a summit climber or something along those lines if you don't want a ladder stand. i've never had the need or opportunity to hunt out of hang ons. climbers arent' that much of a problem to work with.

if you do decide to build be careful they can be very dangerous if not built right.

If you're going climber, Summit all the way. Proud Viper X5 owner right here.

the vipers are awesome. ladder stands are nice but most only come as a 15 foot application and i prefer to be higher up. but you can get a good set of climbing sticks that are in 20 foot set for like 50 bucks at gander mountain and just ad a lock on.
