An old man told me last year that when he went hunting for deer, he would go in the woods with a lawn chair and a radio. He would sit in the chair under a tree, and set the radio about 25 yards away, turned on. He didn't say what type of music. Anyhow, he said within a little while he would have all kinds of deer coming in to check out the sound. Reportedly killed a deer every year.

This doesn't sound right to me. But has been driving me nuts. Can it really be this easy? Have any of your ever heard of anything similar?

This sounds like it could work ,I hope you try it and can give us a follow-up report . I would try it but don't have a long enough extension cord .

King Hugh, who knows, perhaps? i think some deer do seem a little curious--and like the old saying , courosity killed the cat, but who knows what it will do to a deer?

i have seen deer checking me out in the woods-the way they move their heads from side to side, and snort and blow to see if you will move, then if they deem you are`nt a threat they just start eating agin and slowly drift off. so i guess that`s a form of curosity.

but if this is one of those little things that just drive you nuts till you know then try it sometimes. let us know what happens if you do. good luck, annie.

My great grandmother was 100% Apache Indian and she told stories how they would hide in the grass with a stick and a small piece of white cloth. They would lay in tall grass so not to be seen, and put the stick up just over the grass and wiggle it so the deer would see it and the deer would come to check it out. Then they would kill them, so I guess anything is possible.

Well, I have been in the woods a 100 times cutting wood and be running a chainsaw and look up and there be deer standing there looking at me. I have that happen to me alot. So I would say that it is entirely possibly. I don't think that would me a very enjoyable way for me to hunt so I don't think I will try it, but it is definetly possible to kill deer that way.

Wow.. very interesting, we're taught to be undetectable and now, killing deer by curiousity... sure is something different, that'd I'd like to know more aobut.

I've heard of stuff like that. Deer coming to a static radio, a chainsaw ideling, etc. There are some things that just defy explaination.

I never used music,but have talked to them and I often eat pizza and all kinds of food in the stand.In the warm weather I often am barefooted.Interesting

Hmmmm....maybe I should take my guitar hunting with me. If I don't sing on key will the deer still be curious and come see my show? :) LOL!!! Probably not a good tactic for taking a big buck, but who knows? I have heard some strange stories?

Don't know about the radio but I have known several people that have killed deer while cutting wood with a chainsaw.

maybe it could work....when they are under pressure of rifle season though i highly doubt curiosity will kill them...but if nobody hunts near you give it a wack one day...one day we were sitting silently to see nothing but tree rats....my dad gets up and walks to the right of me to put on a drive for me and made a bunch of noise and a doe came looking for whatever was walking....then she heard my saftey click off!...but i think that was curiosity that made her come from the brush....

I wonder if that old man was playing m n m on the radio, the deer probally were wondering how they could shut him up, or wanted to see the fool singing that crap. I do think there curious though and will check something out

I would ask him to show you where he hunts, then look around for how many beer cans there are<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.. never know he might be on to something
