Thought I'd post these for everyone to enjoy. Gonna try for one of these or others very similar in area.

Plenty of big sturdy trees to set stands. Plenty of cover in canopy, too.

Rest of info will remain on NTK basis (need to know). Have a few more pics of these boys too. Maybe post later.

Nice piece of meat that will save the grocery bills. I quess I'm one of the few that never buys meat at the store and in the summer with the garden goodies doesn't go to the store for 3 months.I'm not rich enough on a retirement income to worry about antlers. Nice deer. Maybe if there is rich enough people out there that can afford the store everyweek they should stop hunting and let the less unfortunate take the wild life.

Uncle Matt, those must be Northern Illinois deer. I know down here in Southern Illinois are deer are weak and skrawny. :D
I hunt Union Co. maybe you can spook them over to me:)

Brino, my Uncle just bought a place outside of Salem. That is Marion county, by you, right? I think I'll be down there the weekend of the 27th & 28th to help him out some. Gotta see what the property looks like for hunting.

And yes those are NE IL deer. I'm gonna try and get the "boss" buck on digital this year. I think I know his areas, and he should be better than last year. He had a rack that went all over the place with too many points to figure out in the limited time he let's himself be exposed. Non-typical.

Yes Brino, I do Johnson for my sole shotguning and some bow. Alot of bow around the local here. But my Unc just bought this place in Salem. It is going to be his "summer home" where he and his wife can escape the FL sun.

I want to scope it ok a bit to see what the deer potential might be. He doesn't really plan to stay up here past end of maybe say Sept.

Wouldn't be right to miss an opportunity to set a few more stands and blinds. Leave no stone unturned.

brino, don't discredit (is that a word??) So. Il. deer. There's some absolutes slobs here in Jefferson county! There ought to be some dandies around where you hunt too! Or does Union county get too much pressure?

matt, in the first pic. if he was a straight 5x5 and about the same look, what would he score? just kinda looking for a close guess.
i have been watching the biggest whitetail i have ever seen here in wyoming, he looks alot like the deer in the first pic. i gussed him around 135-145? am i close? thanks

With the tine length that deer has, I think he will go high 150's to 160's. I could be way off, but those G4's are very long and make up a lot of inches for a deer. If a deer has tine length like that and carries it out to his G4's he is going to score high. Some very nice looking deer!
