Wool camo

I was wondering if there is any one out there who has used wool camo, and what their opinion is on it. I'm sick of being cold and am wondering if this may be a better way to go? Also how about some of those fleece camoes?

I used to wear that Woolrich stuff, and I wouldn't recommend it.

First off, it soaks up water like a wick, and it's heavy to begin with. Trust me, you don't want to be wandering around in soaking wet wool.

It is warm, however, but I'd recommend the good polarfleece stuff. It's more quiet, more flexible, just as warm, and it doesn't seem to suck up the water quite as fast if it starts to drizzle.

Here's a link to the Whitewater fleece jacketthat I wear. This is the nices hunting coat I've ever owned, and I've blown a lot of dough on these things. You can usually find the Whitewater stuff on ebay at much lower prices, so check there.

I also use Kng of the Mountain. IMO the best there is. Wool still insulates even when wet thats what makes it wonderful. But you have to buy good wool. All the Columbia and cheaper woolrich stuff is a wool blend. Not to be mistaken with tight woven King of the Mountain. You will pay for it but it's the best wool you can buy. Like Doc said Cool in the warm weather and warm in the cold weather. Late December last year and it was not real cold but around 13 degrees. I had my smartwool long underwear and my King of the Mountain Jacket. Stayed warm in the stand for hours without 20 layers on so you can't move.

i got some wool jackets and stuff from cabelas. i love wool keeps you toasty as heck, just remember to get undershirts because some wools tend to be itchy.

I guess it depends on what elements your in. Polar fleece here is useless as an outer garment cause the snow sticks to it. I have wool on from my solks, pants and jacket come Nov. I myself like columbia gear as I can slip through the bush nice and quiet. Layer up and use wool or even your neighbors wife will work too. ;)

I wouldn't want to mention when I first bought my "woolies". I have been using them for years, along with a 100% wool jacket over several layers.

Let's just say..I wouldn't leave home without them.

DD & Tribal

I checked out that King of the Mountain stuff - it really does look awesome. I've read the reviews, and it seems that it doesn't give you the same problems as the cheaper wool.

I was floored by the price, however. Since it's over $1000 for a complete set, I'll have to pass on that stuff until I get a raise. Hell, I can barely afford arrows.

Really nice gear, though. I wouldn't mind getting a set once my financial horizons brighten up.
