I clip my fanny pack to the side of my climber and it goes along for the ride...

that's what i was going to say. if you aren't in a climber though you should probably use the rope just in case. with a climber you could just about turn the fanny pack around so it's on your stomach but won't throw you off balance.

I use my orange pheasant vest as my blaze orange during deer season and it got plenty of pockets in it for my muzzleloader loads, rope, knife, cleaning patches, binoculars, etc. and I barely notice I have it on.

Leave the junk at home or on the shelf. The necessities are the only thing that hunt with me. If it doesn't fit in my fanny pack or on the stand it doesn't go on the hunt.
