Default swimming deer

I was fishing at Beech Fork lake in WV early in the morning. You can usually hear fish jumping all over the place. I hear a big splash that made me look at where it came from and noticed that a deer had jumped into the lake and started swimming acrross to the other shore. I had never seen that and thought it was odd but also amazing to witness. What was even more strange to me is that it swam within 10 feet of my boat and exited the lake right where I was fishing.
Just another awesome experience in the outdoors

Saw a video once, King of the North, and it showed deer swimming and being pursued by a canoe. The camoe couldn't keep up! Deer are reputed to be good swimmers, and I guess they must be from that video.

I have a friend in Maine who has some great pics of deer swimming over a mile from shore in the ocean out to barrier islands. He sees them from time to time while striper fishing. Water is not really an obstacle to them.

I work at a lake and saw a deer walk half way across the dam down over the rocks and into the water. She just kept going out infront of the discharge tower and another 300yds to the bank. Great swimmer.
