200" perfect 14 pointer, pics........
Heres what I believe is the biggest typical killed in Texas last season. The deer netted alittle over 200" as a perfect 7x7 fourteen pointer. Not a bad buck, I think I might have shot him to :D

Sorry about that, I dont like the new system here on this site. You use to be able to post the picture, now you can only post a link.
Newbhunter, I dont know what to say. Maybe if you copy the entire link that I provided and then paste it in your browser it will take you to the picture. Alot or work to look at a picture, I know, but its a nice buck ;) |
RE: 200" perfect 14 pointer, pics........
Yeah just cut and paste the entire link and it will work fine.
DAMN what a buck!!! First question of course, did this come from a fenced ranch or a open range? (I think I can answer that myself but wanted to know for sure.) That is truly a freak of nature and a WORLDCLASS animal. Undoubtely a Texan rack as well. That's awesome, they don't grow like that (shape and characteristic wise) anywhere else on the continent. I see a couple of stickers that would add up too maybe 4" or so of deducts. Also looks like a young dude that got him, I hope he fishes, golfs or hunts different species of big-game because he is DONE with whitetails now! ;) NUTTIN like dem TX brush critters, RA ps Oh yeah, and bein fenced I assume that buck was "paid for by the inch" I wonder which side of $20k he paid for it? There are some well heeled hunters around that wouldn't think twice about dropping $30k or more for a buck like that! |

o i rember that deer it was on the forum a while ago. still an amazing creature.

RE: 200" perfect 14 pointer, pics........
That deer was shot with an outfitter, therfore it was paid for. But, it was not shot in a fenced area.It was within 1/8 of breaking the Texas typical record. You notice how in that link it says its in the top 5 typicals shot in Texas. They do not consider animals shotin a high fenced area. When people see a huge Texas deer they just assume it must have been shot behind a high fence.High fenced ranches are the minority in Texas. The majority of ranches in Texas arefree ranging.Just check out these links to major deer hunting competitions around Texas. Take a look at the free ranging deer.

DoctorDeath,
Texas bucks do get pretty heavy horned. Most people think they are all "penical racked" but honsetly I see very few mature bucks that have thin racks. Most mature bucks in s. Tx will have 33-36" of mass measurements, which isint huge but still along way from being pencil thin. My buddy this past season shot a 9pointer in s. Texas that grossed 159". The buck had almost 43" of mass measurements and wasent entered in any deer contest because he wasent big enough to place first in any contest for the "heaviest mass" catagory. I think the big difference between our deer and deer up north, is that our deer normally have to reach5 1/2 years old and older before they get decent mass. Compared to deer up north who can get really nice mass measurements at 2 1/2 or 3. Heres a picture of the new Texas state record 10 pointer which was also killed this past season. It was taken off the 25,000 Shiner ranch. On average the ranch produces12-17 bucks each year that break the 150" mark, with most of those breaking the 160-170 range. http://www.loscuernos.com/Bill%20Glendening%20111304.jpg Heres another typical that was pictured underneath the one above. This typical will also make the B&C for the 04-05 season. He grossed alittle more then 185" even with a broken tine..... http://www.loscuernos.com/Stuart%20Stedman.jpg |

RE: 200" perfect 14 pointer, pics........
Nice buck. I agree, I don't think I'd have a problem letting one fly in his direction.
|
RE: 200" perfect 14 pointer, pics........
Nice looking buck, I tend to lean towards northern bucks due to their bigger body size and heavier antlers (mass) but that one is a beauty, almost 200 inches! I wonder what the deer weighed...
