Scent Killer and Leather boots?
I have heard a lot about leather boots picking up scent and "blowing your cover" Has anyone used scent killer or a similar product on leather boots and has it been successful. I try to keep my costs down and would like to avoid buying another pair of boots, just for hunting.

dpv...its true, especially if your boots have leather soles. There is not much you can do about it. I understand trying to keep your costs down...I do too..there is just too much cool stuff out there to buy ;) However, if you can come up with the money, its a good investment to get yourself a good pair of rubber soled, synthetic material boots. If you dont live in an area that gets super cold, you can get a good pair for $40 or so. If you have to have a lot of insulation, they can get pricey though. Otherwise, hunt the wind as best you can.
Good luck. |

Rubber boots!!! I have used them for the past few years and they are a wonderful thing... that and some fox urine cover scent on the bottoms and you are well on you way to going "Scentfree as you can be" The first time I used these I had an 8 point buck come so close the my stand I had to spread my feet so I could continue to video straight down through the stand.... and he never had a clue I was standing right over top of him... Spend the money they will last you for a long time and it is a good investment... I bought Rocky's 18" boots with 1000 grams of insulation, and they keep my feet warm all winter I never even use my leather boots....
