Freeze a buch of gallon jugs and keep them in a good cooler.Take a bunch of old blankets with you too.

When you get the deer pack the inside of the deer with the ice and lay the blakets on it to insulate it.

You can also cut the deer up and pack it in coolers with ice.

Yeah I would say to go ahead and butcher the deer... and get it into coolers... You don't want to take a chance with spoiled meat... and inside a cooler is going to be the best chance...

i got a big cooler, just put the meat in the cooler and open several bags of ice and pour all over the meat, ice will melt but keep putting ice in the cooler when old ice melts down and open side plug on cooler to let the blood out and put plug back in then apply new ice, besides i soak my meat in the cooler for about 5 days the take it to be processed

depending on where your deer camp is located and how close to a town it is you can use the coolers and ice or find a local locker that will allow you to hang them until you are ready to go home.

Many good Ideas have been mentioned. I tend to do as Charlie, I freeze juice bottles full of water and pack the deer with them, then cover the deer with a thick blanket. When I didnt have my bottles I either butchered the deer and put them in coolers (just remember to keep a fore quarter with a tag on it, if required). I have also bought bagged ice and placed the bagges in the body cavity, and then wraped them. The only problem with bags of ice is they will thaw leaving your deer and blanket wet. You also have to replace the ice bages daily.
