Carbon clothing
 

How many of you have tryed Scent-Loc and other name brand clothing?It's too expensive for me to use.I bought some surplus carbon military pants and jacket this year.I was very disappointed.On the outside of the package it said use by 1985,it was very stiff and noisy.I didn't use it this year but maybe if I had washed and dryed it would not have been as bad.I don't know if it would block my scent if I washed it.Has anyone used this type of clothing?I use scent free soap and shampoo.Wash my clothes in scent free soap,use earth scent dryer sheets and put my clothes in plastic bags.I spray myself with earth scent sometimes pine.Is there any thing else you do to remove your scent?I can't afford a 300 dollar scent-loc suit.I sure would appreciate any other idea's you may have.Thankyou

I've read that a new company is comming out with a line of scent free clothing this comming june. They mentioned that there clothes don't have to put into a dryer to re-activate them, and that they are much cheaper than the stuff that's out on the market now!!! Problem is, I don't remember the name of the company off the top of my head at the momnet!! Sounds like something that I want to check out for sure!!! I know I seen it advertized in a hunting magazine, which one is a good question!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I think the scent free clothing is just another gimmick the companies use to get more of the hunters money. Hunt the wind, climb a tree, be still, and be quiet and you will be successful. I think it is impossible to be 100% scent free, therefore the deer will still smell you if they are downwind and the wind currents drift downward.

I remember when I was wondering if I should buy a surplus chemical suit. I talked to my sister, who is a chemist, and she told me that activated charcoal is activated charcoal, no matter what form it is. It is a filter and it will work. So I spent the $20 bucks and I couldn't be more pleased. I don't wear it during shotgun season, because I don't think that scent control is that important then, but I do wear it a lot during bow season, although not all of the time. It is bulky and uncomfortable, and in NY when it is cold out, I would rather wear layers of clothes that keep me warm. I do have to say though, I have yet to be scented in the woods when I was wearing it. I think I'm going to buy another one that fits me better too. Take care

That's what I bought Corvid,a chemical suit.Mine is very stiff,Do you think it would be ok to wash it?Or would it lose it's carbon activation?

I love my scent loc suit. It works. You still have to wash and change clothes when you get to the woods but this year I didn't hunt the wind and I saw more deer this year then I've seen in the last five years. I took my son hunting with me this year( he's 26 and live in Ark.) I put him in a spot where I see several deer everyday, he didn't wash his clothes or keep them scent free and we didn't see any deer for the two days we hunted. I bought my scent loc a the deer and turkey expo in Nashville for 152.00. I got the liner set... pants, shirt and headgear, I also bought the gloves for 19.00. It is lightweight and comportable. I use them and they work.

I never wash mine, just put it into the dryer every once in a while to reactivate it. I add some of those dryer sheets that have cover scents to 'em, and when I'm not wearing them, they are outside under the awning getting &quot;air washed.&quot; My suit is relatively stiff, but nothing that has really bothered me. I don't recall what brand I do have because it is packed up for the season, but I bought it from the Sportsman's guide about 5 years back. Talk to ya soon.
