HuntingNet.com Forums - 2009 Wisconsin Turkey Opener

Ok, I am not a huge turkey hunter and normally wouldnt post this but becuase of the circumstances I thought it would be well worth it. Today was the Wi opener. I took my 7 yr old with me and we set up in a blind in the timber where historically the birds are roosted. We got there and sure enough there was a ton roosted close. about 10 min before fly down I had my son yelp a couple of times and the toms hammered back. I had him wait about 10 min and he did it again. This time I heard one golblle among all the others that sounded like it was on the ground, and also in a diffrent direction. I finally spotted the tom out the back side of the blind, he was strutting out at about 300 yds. I had my son yelp again, he came right to my strutting tom decoy and I killed him at about 7 yds. It was so cool to have my son there to call, i think that he is hooked. I had to others on my property as well and we all tagged out in 23 min. Pretty cool.
