Week one....
 

No sightings opening day.... one on Tuesday....anda fewin the mts of southwest Va this past week. I spent 4 days up there and saw 15 deer in stand which is not a lot over 4 days, Im used to seeing 15 a sit on this farm. the temps were in the 70's everyday and the movement was not good.. I saw 9 different bucks 2 were at 6 yds and I passed, they were just not what I was looking for.. I also had some does in range as well, but I was sitting on some serious buck sign and decided not to shoot. I am o for o the first week of the season..have not drawn the bow on a deer yet, temps are going to be in the 80's this week!!!!!!! is it worth going????

I hope so Walt..I went yesterday afternoon and saw nothing.... I was sitting in raining acorns and still nothing... Im starting to question my judgement on stand placement... I don't mind not killing a deer, I don't like not seeing them..I hope things get better.

Yeah, this warm weather has had everything shut down for about a week here in Iowa! It's been tough hunting!

Today we have a Nor-wester blowing, and I'm PUMPED to get into the stand this afternoon!

This weekend the temp should drop, lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s, still a little warm but better then 75. In the next couple week the wind should change to the North and then its on. Come on November.

Man I hope so!! Good luck fellows...Oh by the way, we actually have gotten some really good footage of a nice 10 pt and a pie bald spike with several does and 2 kills on film in just the first week!! Im the only one in my circle that has not connected!!! but Im pleased so far with the footage we have, not bad for camera rookies!!!

Yeh walt if only I could get on film myself!!!! I went out yesterday and put in 2.5 hrs of leg work on a peice of land and found acorns all over with NO evidence of deer eating them!! What is going on?? I found some wrist sized rubs and one really fresh scrape, I mean he peed in that thing like an hr before I found it... anyway, we'll see !!

and just when I thought it was going to get better.....it rains all day today and then some more in the AM!!!!!!!!!!!! can't catch a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
