Finally saw a nice one...
 

After a HOT and uneventful Saturday (didn't see a single deer!) my hunting partner/cameraman Mike and I finally got on a nice one this morning. Unfortunately he came through the exact OPPOSITE way we expected him and was straight downwind of us at about 80 yards so he lived to see another day, but it was still nice to see a big mature deer this early in the season. We saw 5 more deer do the same thing he did, so needless to say we moved our set and we'll be ready for him next time. He's a nice main-frame 9 with a big kicker off his right beam. Defintely a shoot for us, and he looks like a nice mature deer. He had a belly bigger than mine. :D

Here's the best shots I could pull off the video. We got a little over 1 min of footage that's decent, but not great. It was early and as you all know, low light and zoom are not the GL2's best friends.

Heading back down in 2 weeks for a 3-day weekend, then right after that I'm heading to Campbell's for a week. Know anyone who wants to come play cameraman fora week????

Had these two guys come join the party this morning, and got some cool footage of a young coyote chewing on a deer carcass as well. A pretty productive morning for being surface-of-the-sun hot and 110% humidity (those numbers are approximate, and probably low).
