Colorado elk hunting unit 12
A buddy and I are hunting unit 12 in a drop camp early September near sleepy cat peak. Because of conflicts and avoiding full moon, we are hunting a little earlier than normal (first week in Sept). Anyone know the area and feelings about early bow hunt prospects?

Probably something you already know, but hunt higher elevations early in the season. I'm not a bow hunter, but just started last year in muzzloading. We are in the woods together for muzzle season. Good luck.

Is not unit 12 part of public land?

I think you should see some animals there at that time......I too would stick higher in elavations and maybe in the darker timber where it might be a little cooloer.

You are correct. Packing out a quartered elk will really make a man out of you if you have much uphill climbing to do. Thanks for all of your comments and
God Bless all of you-Keep looking up! |
