RE: New WA Turkey Hunter Needs Help!
Just remember, Will isn't the only callmaker who can "speak the language". I think bldhound and I make calls that talk turkey pretty dang good too, and Wayne can vouch for us. But I understand loyalty. The thing about calling is to learn what they sound like, practice making the sounds, practice some more, then go with somebody who knows how to call. One of the hardest things for a beginner who tries to call is knowing when to put the call down and let the tom do the work. I didn't have anybody to show me the ropes 17 years ago, so I learned the hard way. If you can find a mentor, it will save you a LOT of frustration and help keep the birds uneducated. Dumb birds taste great! You don't have to be a champion turkey caller to make a gobbler commit suicide, you just have to know when to shut up, when to talk, and what to say. It's like hunting a 20lb elk.:D
