An army post called hunter ligget (sp?) between San Luis abisbo (sp?) and San Jose. I know of folks who have had good luck in that area. When i lived in LA I had not yet started hunting. It was just drive by shootings and such.

Hope this gets you closer.

HR, theres plentyof public land pig hunting in ca, thats the good news, the bad news is that its between extremely difficult to impossible to find pigs on public land, the vast majority of pig hunting is on private land, you can hunt fort hunter ligget or vandenburg if you can get access. check out jesses hunting opportunities(JHO) and do a search on pig hunting, all the info you will ever need, good luck

Pretty hard to find hogs on public lands in northern ca. if you find the right farmer in northern ca they will let you hunt thier land, but most hunt themselves so they do not like to give up there hunting areas to other people. Most have even starting hunt clubs to bring in extra money to counter increasing price of living as a farmer or rancher. good luck, takes a little time but apread the word and you will find something.

RE: California Hog Hunting

I have hunted for hogs in a number of Class C areas in Northern California such as Spenceville, Cache Creek and Indian Valley but without success. I did find some hog sign at Spenceville Wildlife Area near Marysville but it looked old. There apparantly are a lot of hogs in California but finding them on public lands is extremely difficult. If you really have your heart set on getting a hog, it would probably be wise just to pay the $300 to $500 for a guided hunt on private land where success rates are said to be high.
