S.W. OR- bear or cat hunters???
 

How about this heat?? where ya huntin this season??I edited this post to hopefully get some input on bear and cougar numbers in s.w. oregon. Should a interested hunter get tags for both to harvest if seen ?? I was told recently that a few cougars have been taken in the area directly south of where I live ?? And with numbers up and hunting methods limited no days should we try to fill these tags ?? all I saw as far as a description as to where to find cougars lately was in reference to eastern oregon.. well any thoughts would be interesting to hear..

i got some private farm land around Silverton Oregon that has a nice wood lot in the middle of it for deer and will be huntin the trask and above detroit damn for elk

Does anyone know if ODFW has any rules on hunting game like deer and or bear with your shotgun while hunting for upland game birds in the mountains of western oregon ?? I don't read any but was just wondering if anyone knew of any rule pertaining to this hunting scenerio ??? Of cousre being each species is in it's prespective open season for legal hunting at the time of course. For example if I'm hunting quail and grouse and have a valid bear tag and I see a legal bear can I shoot them with a slug ?? Question being I guess with out running on anymore can you hunt birds and deer or bear at the same time ?? barring any special requirements for certain caliber or whatever ?

To answer your question as long as the big game animal and upland bird seasion run together witch i know they do here in oregon for most of the seasion yes you can hunt both.I know i few years ago and they change this about every other year it seems like you can hunt grouse with a rifle but i think they are getting away from doing this since it has been about 4 years since you could do that.

thanks that's how I read it saw too big quail and a few squirrels out west of G.P. today no luck though them mountain critters are fast:eek:
