Hello all I decided to start a new thread because 511 was becoming the most popular in the West Threads.

As for Hunting I just went out to Dome Rock in 581 and saw a few Mule and Elk up north in the Muller park. Did get a few rabbits on the south trails in Dome Rock. Please let all know how your hunting is going. 511 has been hit and miss since they removed the target shooting areas (Target shooters have moved into my hunting area firing constantly). Game is scarce and all is dead quite. Thanks BOBsSpike

Did you come across any whitetails while you were out. I've got an either sex whitetail license that is valid in a couple units that you listed in the title of this thread. I'm looking for places to hunt with that license if you have any ideas I'd appreciate it!

The license is good in the following units: 48, 49, 56, 57, 58, 59, 69, 84, 85, 86, 140, 481, 511, 561, 581, 591, 691, 851.

Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it! I'll be out there for a week soon. Worst case scenario I may knock on a few doors and offer a moderate trespass fee. I'll have my young daughter with me so hiking great distances is probably not going to happen. This hunt will be more about my daughter experiencing hunting than anything else but It would be nice to have her there when I knock an animal down. Quality time together none the less.

How was this year(2014) for elk in 50 56 and 58.. I also am looking at what you got for pronghorn in 58/50.. I am trying to decide Either rifle or inline muzzle for next year. any information would be a help. I know the concentrations on the atlas but wanted to see if you saw what it said. I am not asking for your spots just if the atlas is spot on or full of it. I have not had a chance to scout this year and want to make a decision soon for scouting. thanks

I spent quite a bit chasing elk in unit 511 as well as 59. in 511 there wasnt a trail I went down that someone wasnt shooting on. it pushed most of the game further away but for me that was good cause i know most arent willing to go in that far as well most people in 511 road hunt. theres a nice creek in there that to my experience always held game and saw elk muleys and even a whitetail or two. suprisingly i didnt see a single bear up there this year. on a side note 11 mile canyon i know holds a buch of deer but has anyone seen a whitetail up there or just mule deer?

511 is my back up area when i dont feel like taking on my main unit and destroying my legs. Plus in places like 511 i find its harder to pattern them due to there is no high ground where you can look and say theyre up there. Its just a mess of rolling hills.

Anyone had any scouting success in 511? just wondering if it is still crap due to the sport shooting?
