Well anyone wanting some information on hunting spots. I will go over what I have noticed. Dome Rock south of Muller is looking sparse as everyone and their Horse has been trudging thru the trails these past few weeks and no one has see any animals more than a chipmunk. So unless people all stop going there it will be sparse. Best look elsewhere for your locations. As for farther West I saw herds start of summer but no rubs or spore. Now.. so if you have info and your not a Troll leave some info on where the people are at so we can avoid them.. thanks

Scouted Mueller (Dome Rock) nothing. Left cameras overnight on some nice fields nothing. You are right everyone and their mother is in 511 and 581 this year it seems scouting best look elsewhere... sad GMU 55 has no archery tags this year for OTC.

Saw the same thing last weekend in 511... every trail someone was riding a motorcycle or scouting for the season coming up. Too populated. No tracks game cams show nothing for a month over ponds with grass fields. So probably going to go to GMU 471 I hear there is huge herds and no one is hunting there.

I am having no problems finding animals in 511. I discovered to look in places where most people won't hunt. Thicker the better. The animals there aren't really spooked by atvs and gun shots they just don't go out into open areas

Just spent the last three days walking to hell and back in 511, heard one bull, but couldn't close on him, something about climbing a mountain fast enough. Otherwise I just don't know. This is my first year Archery Elk hunting and any pointers on where to find an animal would be greatly appreciated. I'm not picky, just trying to get some meat.

I just spent the week off work and did get a shot off at a elk(cow) in 511 but Dangerous as hell on the weekends. They were shooting down the trail I walk all the time. Is it wrong to shoot back?
Ok I have seen 2 COW and one bull(Little) all week for muzzle in 511. Saw a herd going into Badger flats but could not find them. Did hear bugles but the first time I called back. Vanished. They are skittish as hell. So I will not be bugling or cow mewing anytime in the future unless I have close ones. Dome rock is Quite and dead from what I saw. I did have a nice Sheriff Dep pull me over there for speeding and tell me if I want a 4 mil hike that Muller west side has them hiding in there and to talk to the gate about restrictions. ( he let me off with a warning I probably smelled like Elk Piss too much to stick around the Jeep). I have a Photo of the heard at Badger Flats.

I was up in 51 last weekend for a little small game hunting - walked in on FS 507 from Jackson Creek Road. Saw a lot of squirrels and rabbits - my shots were probably no more than 5 yards for the rabbits. I was knee to waist deep in snow but had a blast!
