Leaving for Colorado in a week, any Elk info?

I' ll be leaving for Colorado in about a week to hunt the first rifle season. Going to the SouthFork area and looking for any info anyone wants to share. Is there much snow up at higher elevations yet? What are the Elk doing? Much bugling still going on or is it done? Are the Elk still up high?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Mike, I don' t have any info for you, but wish you luck on the hunt. I was planning on hitting the 11th opener, but decided to hold out for bull season on the 18th. I' ll be driving there on the 17th.

Do the bulls bugle that late in the season, or is it a possibility to call in younger bulls by bugling then?

Not much snow any where yet, but that could change any day. The elk are still bugling, and you can expect to hear some when you get there yet, calling them in probably won' t work, but might. They are where you find them. Will they still be high, probably, usually takes snow, lack of food or lack of water to move them down. And ABM, you should expect to hear a few bugles yet when you come, I' ve heard them bugle many years during the 2nd rifle season, but after they hear a few shots, they get quiet pretty quick. As far as calling them in that late by bugling, not probable, using a cow call would probably do ya better. IMO! Good luck guys!
