The land you are going to will really be determinded by the state you are heading to. I went to MT a couple years ago on a public land hunt with 3 other guys. We looked everything up online, did the google maps, Bing Arial Photos the works. The hunt turned out to be great! We all got our deer in the first 3 days of our week long trip. Guns used where a 7mm mag, 30-06, a .270 and a .243. All the deer where shot from 2-400yards and didn't have any trouble with recovery. Hope your hunt goes as smooth as mine! One bit of advice- Get out there as early in the hunting season as you can. Our season was 6 weeks and we couldn't get out there until the 5th week. Alot of deer had already been taken. This next trip we are going week 1 or 2.
