Help Needed !! : Montana or Wyoming Hunt

I live in PA and am trying to coordinate a deer hunt. I am not opposed to taking a nice whitetail however I have taken many of them in the Pa.OH area. I get lost trying to figure out how to take a reasonable hunt (if there is such a thing). I read that Montana has areas that you can take nice whitetails considering you can hunt hard. I also hear so much about these public lands to hunt. Unless you know somebody, it is a shot in the dark. If anyone can share some experiences in Wyoming or Montana, I would be very appreciative. Is there such a thing of getting on a ranch for a fair price and do a DIY hunt. I have been around so a DIY hunt where I can cover many miles is ok with me.

Any advise on a private ranch or good BLM property would be appreciated.

MT all the way, though neither of these states are producing many trophies these days, but WY is really down.

If you can find a CO mule deer tag you'd be 100x ahead of both WY and MT.
btw CO has landowner tags/vouchers you can buy, which I think would get you a tag and access to private land.

Good Luck!
CO.....MT.....WY in order...

We have hunting for Mule Deer several times in Western Wyoming in a sleepy little cowboy town called Dubois. We stay at the McKenzie Highland Ranch-they have several options. Right out their back gate is the Shoshone National Forest....excellent huntings. Guides are available daily too if needed/wanted. We have yet to come home empty handed!

Are you looking to hunt eastern or Western Montana? You may want to pick a region or two and get a hold of the local FWP. Usually they are very helpfull in pointing you to good locations to hunt. While the numbers are down this year with both Elk and Muleys, there are still really good numbers and size if your patient and willing to work for them. Good luck.
