Help with camo pattern

Guys, I've been out in SE Wyoming before for elk and I am looking to come out again. If I draw that is. The area I hunt is open sage and also some timber/aspen stands.
What camo pattern do you people like for archery season. I have green Predator, Mossy Oak Treestand, Real Tree AP. But I would get something else if needed.

I like predator camo for hunting Montana. Got sold on it while elk hunting years ago with a friend of mine that wore it. He virtually disappeared when he was 50 yards from me. That sold me on predator. I wear the green for archery elk hunting.

"Open Country"

+1

Open country gets my vote!

That's sort of what I was thinking too. I like the Open Country. The Mossy Oak Brush looks pretty good too. Though not as much 'break up' as the Open Country.

I say go with what ever you look best in!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine that it would matter that much. Elk are in the deer family, vision is only so-so. You can hunt them in orange with a gun.

ASAT is also another option. for really open fields i like ASAT.

My pick is Natural Gear not much blends better in the mountains and the open grass. Good color for lots of applications west of the mississippi. Because bushes aren't supposed to move. Go with lighter camo.

Well everyone thanks for the advice. But it's going to have to wait until maybe next year. I didn't draw this year.

wyomingtrapper 03-20-2012 12:50 PM

Better luck next year on the draw. I think camo is over rated for decreasing visibility. I wear it because its available, often cheap, and a lot of options in fabric is available. Years ago I used to wear an old pair of wool slacks and a plaid jacket bow hunting. I had plenty of very close encounters with that outfit. If you are still, they may study you for a minute or two and then ignore you. If they catch motion, you are busted regardless of the pattern.
