Gila National Forest/Lincoln National Forest turkeys...
 

Hey guys, I'm planning on going to NM this spring for a Merriams and have my sights set on hunting Gila N.F. or Lincoln N.F. Not wanting anyone's honey hole or secret spot but was wondering if anyone had any advice on where I might start? Which of these places might be a better bet? Mainly looking for a place that I could stay within reasonable driving distance each morning. I wouldn't want to drive more than half an hour each morning, so the closer the better. I'll be coming from Fort Worth. Thanks guys, Simp

Look into staying in Silver City and hunt north of there. If you hit it right, you should do fine. You can also do a tent camp up in the forest itself with no problem.
