Idaho muleys? (help needed)
 

I'm getting ready to hunt in the boise natl forest, near the sawtooth mtn range... any tips on hunting big muleys would be appreciated...I'm kind of going at this blind but just want to stand a chance... I live in missouri and not too familiar with the area. I've called the idaho game and fish and spoke with some wildlife biologists... they said to try to get around 7 - 8 thousand feet elevation and glass... that gets me away from the hunting pressure near idaho city... also any tips on black bear would help... my tag is good for black bear and mtn lion as well... not to sound desperate but ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! :patriot:

I don't know that area, but the ideas you received are good. I shot one yesterday at about that elevation, by glassing at daylight. The country will seem to swallow up game to you, and it is often tough for someone from another area to "look small" for the signs of an animal in the vast wilderness. Take your time, glass slowly, and watch the wind. Use a range finder because estimating distance can be very difficult. Good luck!

to bad i wasnt on this site back when this was posted cuz i know all about that area and FYI you want some monster Muleys go to the sellway-bitteroot area on the border of Idaho and Montana or go to southern Idaho and put in a draw for i think its Unit 33 or 34 but they have huge muleys there

Look at your first hunt as a "discovery hunt", take this time to learn the area. You might see a big buck to kill? Bring a GPS and mark the places you have been, so you can return to the same place year after year.
