Turkey gobbling peak in Washington state?

I know its post-season but I still would like to know for next year....

Has anyone of you ever asked a state biologist when the peak gobbling periods for Washington state is? I suspect late April to the end of season in mid-May. I' ve been hunting these birds for three years now and it always seems that gobbling picks up during that time.

I think you' re probably right, but I' ve never asked. I think there are too many variables that affect it to just say a specific time every year though. If we have an early spring, you' ll have an earlier peak. There has been much less research done about external influences on turkeys than on deer. Turkeys don' t seem to be affected by the lunar tables like deer and other wildlife do because they aren' t primarily nocturnal. I think they are very sensitive to weather conditions though. Just my $.02.

I' d agree with Slee. I think the weather dictates how soon/often they will gobble. I would suspect they would do it more toward May as most of the hens have been breed by then and the gobblers will be trying harder to find lovin' .
