Point system in Washington
I know I get a point/year for each species I put in a special permit for. My buddy is trying to tell me your points are squared. That is someone with 4 points will get 4x4=16 chances of being drawn. Another friend turned in a kid that shot a cow elk last season by mistake and they gave him 10 points to add to his already 18. That would imply he is getting 18x18=324 chances. Is that really the way it works here?
If so, please provide a link or other source as I can' t find it in the manual anywhere. Thanks! |

Found it;
http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/faq/wpsfaq.htm#14 Looks like he was correct, some species have multiplyers on them. Cool. |
RE: Point system in Washington
You know somebody who has 18pts?!
This is interesting as the weighted point system has only been in place in WA for seven years... I guess with this years point he could have eight...plus the ten (ouch)! Sounds like I need to start hunting poachers nstead of elk! |
RE: Point system in Washington
Ya, no kidding. I almost fell over when I heard about it. It really happend, some 15 old kid shot a cow during the first weekend right in front of my buddy. He shouted out, " NICE COW!" to the kid. The poor lad walked over to the dead cow and then left it and went back to camp. Since the kid' s camp was near my friends he followed him to make sure. Then went back to camp, got in his truck, and drove around the reserve and found a Warden. Told him what happened and they went and got the cow and arrested the kid. Don' t know what happened to the kid but I' m glad I' m not him. Too bad but you can' t screw up like that when you' re shooting a gun I figure. Better a cow than another hunter if you get my point.

RE: Point system in Washington
I believe it is a squared point system for all species except moose and sheep. I wish they squared them too I have max points.
