Don't know about the field, trips to the range....about 25 miles of I70, I'm seeing very few vehicles I can count as hunters. All that has been open so far is Archery and BP.

I hunt all public land 99% of the time. Yes there are fewer hunters in 2009. I guess they are all playing Wii at home.

I'd say I'm seeing more in the area I hunt.

We sure didn't see the hunters up in Colorado that we normally see. Also the normal trucks with ATV's and ones that would stand out as hunters was not even close to what we see in years past.

I'll be heading to Oregon Nov. 11th. So we'll get another look as we head out. Talked to my buddy tonight and he said looks like rifle hunters are only about 30% in the area this year vs. last.

Look like the count is down at least in the areas we hunt.

Certainly less where we hunted in Colorado. We saw more elk this year than the other 4 years we hunted where we go. Reduced pressure in the first season coupled with less hunting second season resulted in more elk not pushed to the 11,000' + altitude.

Finishe up hunt in Oregon. Saw fewer hunters in Wyoming than normal. But Oregon had more hunters than in years past.

So in the areas we hunt Colorado and Wyoming appeared to be down but Oregon was up in the season and area we hunt.

I never do see many people where I hunt. I try to stay out of the woods on weekends when the weekend warriors come out. I have two tree stands on the corners of my property that overlooks the national forest so I usually stay here on the property on weekends. Most of them are just road hunters trying to fill a meat tag and they aren't to selective in what hey shoot.
