NM Unit 31 Deer Hunt
 

I have drawn a deer tag for Unit 31 in New Mexico. I do not know the area yet and would appreicate any suggestions or advice for hunting this unit.

unit 31 is a bigunit and holds alot of big deer.i would head to the southern most part of the unit and hunt just east of Carlsbad. it isBLM.

What did you draw rifle or bow?

Lots of SAND,Mesquite and Grease Wood but mostly sand.

Bring a good pair of optics with you this unit is pretty open.

Thanks. I drew a rifle tag. I drove through the area east of carlsbad this weekend and it looks like it might be a tough hunt. I appreicate your advice. I think I am going to need all the help I can get.

Never hunted that area either. Did you find any luck on where to start? It is a huge area. I'm thinking of just going to the WMA Brandtley to start....
