Northern California hunting areas?

Hi all. Please help. I am brand new to hunting and I am thoroughly confused with the California DFG booklets.

I live in the greater Bay Area and I' d like to go pig hunting, and deer hunting during the appropriate seasons. Does anyone know of wildlife areas that are in close(ish) proximity to the Bay Area that I can hunt in? Is there an easy guide out there as to where to hunt in Northern California?

I' m just confused about where I can hunt. The laws divide the state into zones, but that' s not as easy as a direct link to a certain place to hunt. Know what I mean? Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks in advance for help.

hey man, welcome.

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/

There is everything you need to know. If your in the bay area, you are in A zone. Not a great place to hunt, but it will do. I hunt in B zone, near trinity. Long drive but it' s worth it. I' d spend more time typing here but I' m headed out the door.

On a side note to fellow californians; I got all my draw information in the mail today and the new point system looks sweet.

also if your still confused, go down to a gun shop or an outdoors store. I' m sure you can get some help or call the department of fish and game.
