Hunting options in northern CA

I'm from new england, but going to a few meetings this fall/winter near San Fan. Anyone have suggestions for a hunt that I could do for a few days while out there. I was thinking about doing someupland hunting-- or even blacktail on public land? Am I dreaming or are there options at this late stage? thanks.

well san fran kinda puts you far from any good public ground for deer. the zone that this is in will be over in sept. quail hunting would be possible, difficult, but possible. Not sure if you want to pay CA high non-resident fees just to hunt some birds..

if you have specific questions let me know and i can answer them.

the fees are outrageous, but for that time you have pheasant, duck/goose, and quail.

i live an hour and a half north of San Fran, but drive 2.5 hours to go hunt duck/goose in the NWRS
