I filled it out, left a lot of comments on some of the questions. The one that got me was making it illegal to bait at all. I left a nice long reply to that question. Making it legal to bait bear and cougar again instead of letting animal rights wackos and non educated voters make the choice. Also why do non hunters have a say in making the rules and bag limits this should be up to hunters and wildlife biologists. If you don't pay for the right to hunt in the state then you should have no say in the matters of hunting or fishing in the state. Period. The state needs to clean out the game department and bring in people who have COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the comments....I have seen many options of making many general (now) areas proposed to change to special ($$$$$$)permit only. I have brought up the fact that if they make money the main issue,or make things harder on us........that they better consider that I (and my partners) will start hunting out of state and they WON'T get a dime from me, including those wildlife plates on my truck.

Well according to "an insider" there is really nothing we can do about this proposal and we are lucky that we didn't lose all hunting on public lands in the summer.

Good luck to all you guys over there in the Socialist state of Washington. I feel for you, I am glad we don't have a huge urban area over here yet that sways the votes and leaves the rural folks high and dry.

Fish and Wildlife Commission to take comment
on proposed 2009-11 hunting rules
The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will take final public input on a proposed three-year package of hunting seasons and rules during its March 6-7 meeting in Ellensburg.
The commission, which sets policy for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), will meet both days beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Quality Inn, 1700 Canyon Road in Ellensburg.
The commission will be briefed by WDFW wildlife program staff and take public comment on rule proposals for the 2009, 2010, and 2011 hunting seasons. The seasons include hunts for deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, black bear, cougar and small game. Commissioners also will hear comments on proposals for special seasons and hunting restrictions; opportunities for terminally ill and disabled hunters; hunter-education requirements; landowner hunting permits and damage-prevention permit hunts; trapping seasons; big game and wild turkey auctions, raffle and special-incentive permits; special closures and game management unit boundary descriptions; non-toxic shot requirements; and hunting equipment restrictions.
Details on all proposed rules are available on the WDFW website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/seasonsetting/index.htm#recommendations . The proposals were developed after extensive public involvement last year and are based on the 2009-15 Game Management Plan, available at http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/management/2009-2015/ .
The March commission meeting provides the last opportunity for public input on the 2009-11 hunting seasons proposals. Final commission action is scheduled for the April 3-4 meeting in Olympia.
At the March meeting the commission also will consider approval of a proposed acquisition of property to protect critical wildlife habitat in Okanogan County, and receive a WDFW fish program staff overview on salmon forecast data and fishery opportunities.
Public input on fish and wildlife issues is welcome at several scheduled times during the meeting. A preliminary meeting agenda is available at http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2009/03/agenda_mar0609.html .

Default RE: Washington hunters...2009-11 Season and Reg. survey Please Complete

Went over Saturday morning (One hell of a fun drive) and all I can say is there were a LOT of Archery folks there and the proposal to add GMU 101 to the Late whitetail MR hunt Had already been changed to to 50 M/R special permits and after what I heard that will not fly either. Thier plan to implement it was strange....allow the archers into thier traditional unit AFTER the M/R hunters. Seems backwards. Also the Swakane unit was a BIG issue.
as for the reason I went....the Colockum Elk herd and the changes that might be coming....I Don't forsee good changes. 2 people there Wanted to change it to special permit giving alarming (if acuurate, such as only 160 some bulls counted after last years seasons were over) numbers to back up, that a commissioner asked if he would suport CLOSEING the area for a year. I think I would rather see that than the special permit thing. I addressed the immense drop in cover due to logging on the state lands being the major reason for lack of bull escapement, and also asked if they had considered what the group size limit would be since many organized camps are WELL above the limit of 12 on all other SP's. ther was only one other person that spoke on it, mstly aggreeing with my opnions. ONLY 4 of us! NOT GOOD! also..if your old or disabled you might see your opportunities reduced since more road closures are what they consider "doing nothing"

Also the legislature is set to increase all WDFW license fees by at least 10%, and I have heard the governess has proposed to put wildlife enforcement under state patrol control. Also have heard noises of DISSOLVING the game commission too......... That would NOT be good for any of us
