I sent in $768 for a New Mexico Bow Elk lotttery plus a deposit to an outfitter.

Is anyone heading to NM this Sept?

I've applied as well for a NM draw! We'll have to see how the draw gods treat us! (grin) They didn't want us in WY so my fingers are crossed for NM. Oh well there's always Idaho! (grin)

haha, what are you guys applying early for a draw? who does that? geez....I think I still have a couple of weeks to worry....

I went last year.....in the Gila, archery, this year I'm not sure I'm even applying for an elk tag there, funds are tight, and almost dont want to draw a premium tag where I'd have to make the hunt happen! So i'm applying elsewhere.... I willa pply for mule deer in NM I think though.

I got lucky last year.......everyone has the same odds......outfitters will definitely increase your odds.....Could always trya DIY elk hunt if I drew a good elk tag, maybe I'll just put in for like the best elk unit......and DIY if I draw.

Why not apply now and not wait till the last minute? I too have applied, I like to get it done and over with so I dont have to worry about forgetting and being late or missing the draw.

I'M going on a muzzleloader hunt there in unit 9 cant wait , first elk hunt . looking for a 300 to 330 class bull .

Lived here all My life and didn't draw a tag last year for Elk , drew for deer only saw a couple small forky's, but You wouldn't believe the Elk shed I found . Scores around 200 inces.

Yes I applied my girlfriend and I. It would be her first elk hunt if we draw. We are DIY but applied in the outfitter pool for better odds. Picked 2 Gila hunts 1st & 2nd, then unit 52 3rd choice. All archery. Keeping fingers crossed as I really want to see my gal running up and down the mountains after a bull.
