I heard about 4 or 5 guys being down there the other day. How many other hunters did you see? One of them must of been you because I heard they were a bunch of out-of-towners. I was told that there was a tom sitting right on the edge of the road there. Did you scout around the area any or just drive through? Who was it you were gonna ask for permisson to hunt down there? I' ve never heard of them doing that before though. People see those turkeys all year round out in those fields and yards right when you turn onto the road.

RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???

Yeah, they were obviously pets. I didn' t see any other hunters, or anybody else for that matter. I basicly drove from Puyallup to the P&E200 road off Green Creek Rd, and turned around to head home. I had to be back when my daughter got home from school, and I got a late start leaving that morning. I won' t call it a wasted trip, but pretty close to it. My little boys did get to see about 25 elk and 2 turkeys, so all was not wasted.

I seriously doubt that I' ll hunt down there for turkeys though. It' s just too far to drive for a day of hunting, especially when I have birds less than half that distance from me. It' s 105 miles and 2 hours from my driveway to Green Creek Rd, and only 51 miles or just over an hour to Johnson Creek Rd. It' s about the same to Capital Forest. When you consider having to make multiple trips to scout, to me it' s a no-brainer with gas prices like they are. Unfortunately if this season is like the last couple, most of my west side hunts are half day outings. And when you are talking about rolling out in time to beat others to a spot, I' ll take the extra hour or so for sleep, or time for hiking to deeper areas with less pressure, over driving anyday. I will definitely head down for elk, since the farmer I talked to was very open to me hunting on his farms for turkey, elk, or whatever else. I' m not naming his name, for obvious reasons. Brushchimp, e-mail me and we' ll talk.

The Lake Washington Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is hosting an absolutely free seminar. Everyone is invited.

Turkey School 101 as it is being called will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2003. The event is scheduled from 1-3pm at Bellevue Fire Station #9, 12412 SE 69th Way, Bellevue, WA. The topics being covered at this event are: equipment, safety, locating birds, setting-up, calling techniques, tips for success, a Q&A session, and more. You will hear from local successful turkey hunters and locally renowed northwest call maker Howard House. There will also be some giveaways and raffles.

This is going to be a really great event to get you fired up for the upcoming season! Beginners, you especially don' t want to miss this! For more information, call Chapter President, Len Brandt at 425-413-3807 or visit: http://lakewashnwtf.tripod.com. You can also email us at: [email protected]

To get to Bellevue Fire Station #9: Heading south, take exit #9 (Newcastle exit) off of I-405. Go east over the interstate onto Lake Washington Blvd. Stay on it until it turns into 112th Avenue. Turn left onto SE 68th street. This will turn into SE 69th street. Continue east on this and the fire station will be on your left. Please park in the rear of the building. For printed directions you can also go to mapquest.com and go to " get driving directions" and input the fire station address.

Hey all, well found out morout my nephew, he is awake but stil drugged up a bit, he is going to loose three fingers and a thumb on his left hand and then the thumb on his right hand, they still can' t do surgery because of the infection i his lungs, I guess he doesn' t really know wat is goingon, he is going to need some counseling frm all of this. On a side note, bought a shotgun reloader and built a bench for it, so when duck and goose season opens here the first of sept. I' ll be able to go out, but nthe mean time, going to be shooting a lot of pigeons, they are a est over here, and some guys go out and shoot over a hundred in a day, the sad thing is it doesn' t even make a dent i the populations.
