Default Mule Deer in the WEST question

I was thinking about focusing on mule deer for a f ew yrs til I retire then switch to elk. IYHO which western state has the most liberal mulie buck seasons/tags ( excluding Colo as our lil ol 1 week seasons dont cut it for me, guess I am too used to 16 days of PA deer hunting).

Thanks.

Try Idaho for mulies. But Kansas and Nebraska are good for W/T. I've been thinking about Ks. for some hunting next year. Not too expensive and lots of critters.

Montana has 6 week general archery season followed by a 5 week general rifle season that covers the rut. You can hunt both seasons with a general tag. If you draw a NR Deer combo you can hunt from Sept 1 until the Sunday after Thanksgiving. There is a one week break between the end of archery until the begining of rifle season.

Nemont is right on. Montana has the best season structure out there and most of the state is open for a general combo tag.

We're going to northwest Nebraska this Nov. Outfitter says he has lots of mulies. Only 8 days of rifle season during the rut, but the whole month of Dec. for muzzleloader. Can get more than one tag if they're still available during the season. Will let y'all know how it goes.

I'm from Idaho, and the Montana seasons kick out butt!! We have a 30 archery season (Aug. 30 to Sept. 30) and a 21 day rifle season (Oct. 10 to Oct 31). Not bad compared to many, not so good compared to Montana! Additionally, I'm sad to report that Idaho's mule deer numbers are not very good.... There are some white tails up north, but mulies - most of the time that adds up to a tough hunt.
