Looking for summer work

I am 18 years old, finishing up my first year of college at Virginia Tech. I am in the forestry department, and am looking for some summer work oppurtunities. If any of yall know of a place looking to hire summer work, such as a ranch, please let me know.

Thanks for the help,
Jon

Good luck with the work. I would start contacting some of the lodges and see if they need help.

If you're looking to make good money, head to WY and get a job working in the Powder River Basin for one of the coalbed methane outfits ie Windsor, Williams, CH4, Four Aces, Wolverine, Pearl, Nance, etc. The work will be hard, but the pay will be awesome. And as long as you can pee clean, you're pretty much assured a job.

If you're willing to move all the way across the country, there are some intern positions available with the Department of Natural Resources in Washington. These are great jobs for a forestry student, and there are 4 positions available. I work for the DNR myself, and it's a great agency to work for. Here's a link to the intern positions:

There are also a lot of firefighter positions, which can be more difficult work, but most years you will get lots of overtime and the money adds up fast. These are great opportunites for forestry students as well.

Last but not least there are some Engineering Aide positions, working on land survey crews. These positions pay better than the other ones, I believe.

Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions about the Washington DNR.
