Does anyone know if Colorado has a deal like wyoming where you can buy just a bonus point every year or do you have to apply? What is an excellent unit for DIY mule deer? I am willing to wait 5 or more years for the tag if i know i am going into a really good unit........

You have to apply every year for the preference point.

You have to send in the total cost of the deer license & application charge(by April 4) regardless if you are applying to hunt or just buying a preference point. A couple months later you will get your money back minus $40 point fee and app fee.

On average: 2-3 years for a decent deer hunt. 10 years+ for a great unit.
