MAN ACCIDENTALLY SHOT BY HIS HUNTING PARTNER
Wednesday, November 6, 2002 By JOHN BRANTON and MHARI DOYLE, Columbian staff writers A Vancouver man accidentally shot his brother Tuesday morning as they were hunting for elk in Skamania County. The injured man, 31-year-old James Campbell of Cascade Locks, Ore., was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Portland's Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where he was listed in good condition Tuesday night. Skamania County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Dave Brown said James Campbell was hunting with his brother, Darron Campbell, 33, of Vancouver along Forest Service 54 Road about 15 miles northwest of Carson. When Darron Campbell heard a noise and saw something move in the brush, he raised his 7 mm rifle to look though the telescopic sight and the gun accidentally discharged. The bullet hit James Campbell near the collarbone and exited without hitting major arteries or organs, Brown said. When he was shot, James Campbell was not wearing high-visibility orange clothing that is required by law for big-game hunters, Brown said. Gun controll is using both hands!!! |

I can't believe this story I live in goldendale wa and I went to school with both of these guys. Thier both good hunters and fishermen I beleive this was just a bad accident. As far as not having hunter orange on well that was there fault. Get well James! just be more carefull in the future both of you!

Noise and brush shooting is no accident . It's just plain stupid negligence!!! The scary thing is that's close to the areas I hunt, very close. Now the shooters license is getting revoked .
