Colorado GMU 43

I have an opportunity to hunt (very economically) in CO GMU 43 this year. I have hunted mulies in CO but never elk. Can anyone shed some light on this area for me?

Are you going on private or public land?

It would be public land. The guy we are set up with has contracted for the park department for a bunch of years doing road maintenance. Suposedly he is out there every day of the year and thinks he can put us on some good ones.

Then you just need to get in shape, do some shooting so you are good and follow him.

Next year you will know more. This year is a learning year.

Unit 43 is in the aspen area, rugged country, best to back pack in.Once you climb into a good area you sure won't want to do it every day.Good luck and get in top shape.

Sounds like I need to start hammering on the stair-stepper.

Thanks for your help. We are going to meet with this guy in a week or two and talk with him about it. Suposedly his wife took a really big bull last year. I thought he said it was no. 1 in the state but it may have been no. 1 in the region.
