Nevada Unit 111 Elk
Can anybody offer me any advice on this unit? I drew an archerybull tag there. Already ordered maps. Thanks.

RE: Nevada Unit 111 Elk
I got a cow elk with my muzzle loader the week after the bull archery season closed last year. I can give you some good pointers, almost to the point of exactly where to go.I would get one of Elknut1's videos (from here on the site), and get some good quality bugles. You can go about it two different ways. Bugle the bulls in, or use the bugle as a locator, and do a spot and stock, which is what we did last year. I would imagine there will be a lot of smaller bulls still around (I was seeing 6 pt bulls that were satellites, that couldn't even get any "action", because of the even BIGGER 6pt and 7 pt bulls that were kicking their butts), so don't take the first bull you see. PM me if you want some more details.

I also had a cow ML tag there last year. I called three bulls in on the last night of archery season while i was scouting for cows. One bull was 8 by 7 in the 400 range. I was at the top of john henery wash.

RE: Nevada Unit 111 Elk
Yikes. I have taken two nice bulls previously 330" & 340", so I can hold out for a bigger one. I expect I'll keep my hunt to September 1-15. I don't think the last week in August would be necessary, and probably hot.
I prefer to use a bugle as a locator, then stalk if the bull stays vocal long enough for me to find him. |

I got mine up on top of Cave Mountain.

I got my maps and have studied them a bit. This is a gigantic hunting area. Curious if I can call any of you to chat a bit about this.
