Arizona Hunting

Fellow hunters,

I'll be in the Phoenix, AZ area in January or February and was curious as to how the hunting in the area was. Any info is much appreciated.

If you do any calling varmit hunting is not to bad at that time of year. I have taken alot of coyote with good pelts from Nov to Feb.

Find some water and kill a bunch of quail. A 12 gauge is what I use. The choke depends on the area.

not alot of good hunting around pheonix, might think about going east into the white mountains or north into the prescott area to find any real decent hunting. Drawing dead line has already expired so you wont beable to get any big game permits but you can still hunt small game. Archery deer you can get OTC permits but by January the season is over.

Small game is good enough for me, folks.I like to hunt squirrel, rabbit and quail (what few there are) here in VA. Thanks for all the info. If any of you would be willing to take a Southerner on a dove hunt or the like in January, that'd be way cool.

By the way, how is the dove hunting out there these days? It's pretty good here.

dove season actually ends I believe mid october. but quail goes on till I think the end of january. ill find out for sure and let you know. late winter is a good time for coyotes if you might be interested in something like that
