AK bear hunt
 

My bro worked for an outfitter last year in AK and3 of us are going up in August. I'd like to get a bear hunt in, what are the associated fees, is it $400 bear tag? How about general hunting/fishing licenses? Do they offer 10 day, 5 day, or what? Any info is greatly appreciated!

BLACK BEAR TAG $225 EACH , SOME AREAS YOU CAN HARVEST 3 / YR
HUNTING LIC. - $85 , JUST ANNUAL AVAIL
I THINK COMBO HUNTING / FISHING IS $135, WAS, BUT COULD NOT FIND IT NOW.
ALSO THEY HAVE 1,3,7,14 DAY,ANNUAL FISHING LIC.@ $10,20, 30, 50, $100.

MANY AREAS DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 1 SEPT FOR BLACK BEAR........SOME ARE OPEN ALL YEAR LONG
SILVER SALMON FISHING SHOULD BE GOOD.....DEPENDING ON THE AREA. IN THE AREAS I FISH ALL THE OTHER SALMON FISHING IS BASICALLY PAST. BUT DOLLY AND RAINBOW FISHING IS USUALLY EXCELLENT.
WHAT PART OF THE STATE WILL YOU BE PLAYING IN?

I talked to my bro today and he basically said the same thing you did. Black bear tag is $250, and a 14 day combo fishing/hunting license is $135 I think. We'll be flying into Anchorage and staying in Palmer if I remember correctly. He caught some REAL nice salmon last year. I've never been to AK, in fact, this will be my 1st big hunt outside VA, so I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the info!

Scratch the Palmer idea. We'll be staying 1 1/2 hrs. north of Anchorage, I can't remember the name of the town. I'll let you know as soon as I find out again.

probably Talkeetna or Willow areas Clear Creek out of Talkeetna is a hot spot for silvers then. both black and brown bears there also it is a short jet boat ride from Talkeetna. UNIT 14B OR 13E MOST LIKELY 3 bear limit and no closed season for blackies. have a blast!
