Looking for whitetail hunting place in montana
 
Looking for a good place to hunt whitetaildeer in Montana.Does anyone no where would be a good place to hunt?We are going to hunt on our own this year cannot afford outfitter this year.2006

Your best bet is to look into block management so you can get onto private land. Most of theprime whitetail areasin MTare in the lowland areas where farming and ranching are prevelant. Just out of curiosity though, why would you want to go from TN to MT to hunt whitetails instead of mule deer?

Check into the Seeley Lake area: There is a lot of public land-a LOT of deer and some very nice bucks.
You might want to contact the Game and Fish as they can give you info or where the best bucks come from.
The eastern side had a heck of al ot of deer and some very big bucks also-But I -being originally from Penna, can't get used to hunting them along the riverbottoms and relatively open land. Mulies, yes, Whitetails, no, but that is just my personal preference.
