? about weather in the Bighorns

I'm leaving this Thursday to head for the Bighorn Mountains to do some Mule Deer hunting, and I was hoping to get some information about the local weather conditions. I'll be hunting between Tensleep and Greybull. Is there snow on the ground? What has the temp been? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They got some snow up there last tues and weds. Some one told me the big horns really got hammered. I can see the big horns from where I live. They are white but how much they got I can't say for sure.

The temps are in the 50's and 60's day time and down to freezing at night (across the big horn basin)

Good Luck on your hunt.

Hey wyote, thanks for the info. I was hoping that the higher elevations were getting pounded. Hopefully the weather will have pushed some of the old bucks down. Where do you live?

I live in Meeteetse, just south of Cody.

With the warm weather they are forcasting this week I don't know how much snow will be left by next weekend. Maybe another storm will come thru by then.

wyote - Yeah I saw where they are forecasting warmer temps. Those forecasts are always for lower elevations though, and it always seems that it is significantly cooler 2,000-3,000 ft. higher. The season opens on the 15th. I'm planning on getting there a few days early to do some scouting. How does the antler growth look this year? You must have an awesome view, Rockies to the west and Bighorns to the east. I'm envious<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

The antler growth around here isn't very good this year. We've really been in a drought and that must have something to do with it.

Here in town my neighbor keeps track of the rain we get. By the 2nd week of Aug we had a total of 3 inches of moisture FOR THE YEAR!!!! 1 1/4 inches of that came in one storm! It has been raining pretty good since then but I think the damage had already been done.

The mtns got alot more rain than we did so maybe some of those mtn bucks will look more impressive
