where have the elk gone?
 

has anyone else had the problem that im having? i have seen one elk whole season and missed otherwise nothing no bugling nothing i dont know what to think

They don't seem to be as mouthy right now, but they're there. We were into elk both Saturday and Sunday, and the guys that stayedat campare still into elk now. They seem to be getting fired up more and more every day. I had 4 bulls bugling from the timber in the edge of a meadow Saturday evening.

Got mine they are in very secluded spots around 10,000 ft hard to get to and bugling at least here.

Heed PaRu's advice. I haven't seen many elk at all below 8500'.

this weekend i found about 20 head of elk with 2 large bull hopefully ill get em, and they are much lower than i first thought there more aboput 7000 feet here what a suprise ;)

Went to Crested Butte yesterday and had a herd of about 50 with a few bulls within 300 yds of town elevation is 8,885 ft private land ,go figure.

Ya gotta get above 8500' for the most part. Altho 80 of them crossed the Pine River on Tue eve and thats only about 7350'.

I shot my elk last weekend at about 10,000 feet elevation. That seemed to be where the elk were for the most part. We were seeing elk below that, but mostly smaller satellite bulls a maybe a few cows here and there.I had a cow tag. Hunting in Nevada. Good luck.
