Deer in Southern California

I posted this in the Deer Hunting area, but it was recommended i put it here in the west.

I'm new to Southern California Hunting and am planning on taking my son to zone D16 (San Diego) this year. Can anyone give me any feedback on decent hunting locations and how the hunting has been lately? Any info is obviously a big help.

Thanks
Mike

Mike, I responded to your post in the deer hunting area but what I forgot to mention was the D-16 zone will probably close because of extreme fire danger. If you're a bowhunter get an archery only tag and you can hunt that area until dec 30th.

I just got done reading an article in Ca Fish and Game and I think they are saying it will be good hunting in that burn area.

contact jim at willow creek archery in escondido, he's savvy about deer in that area. i think most deer is sd country hide in the cuyamaca state park where they cannot be hunted.
