Duck Hunting Essentials
Ok, what are the essentials that every duck hunter needs. I have been hunting a lot, but have always borrowed items. I am at a point now where I can afford the things I need and have access to hunting on a regular basis. I will be hunting in the South - Mississippi & Tennessee
Thanks in advance for the replies |
RE: Duck Hunting Essentials
Welcome, we are glad to have you.:)
1. shotgun- 12 ga is most common 2. waders- depending on where you are hunting, these are essential 3. Heavy Camo Jacket- It gets cold out there - camo is very important in duck hunting 4. Calls- get some cheap ones until you learn how to do it right.(get an instructional cd, they help) 5. Ammo- Steel shot only!!!!!!!!!!!!! those are the bare essentials. you can PM me if you want more info. I'm sure someone else will remember to talk about something i forgot. Have fun, Be careful, and good luck. |
RE: Duck Hunting Essentials
Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it. We hunt in flooded timber mainly, as well as corn fields (in pits) sometimes.
As far as the gun is concerned, I have used both a 12 & 20, but I like the 12 better. From what I have read, remington sounds like the best bet, #4 shot (steel) ammo. I know there is a difference in camo when hunting in timber/reeds/fields, so that shouldn't be a problem. Any other info would be great..thanks again! |
