Rem 3" 1 3/8 oz #2 Hevie Shot . Shoot it thrue a mod or less choke .
I know it cost more but if the geese are not decoying it will drop them cleanly farther out than steel shooters can even dream of.
Briley extended light mod. Rem 870 , 82 yds with a range finder and 7 pellets thrue the goose this morning.

I like the 3.5" version, but hevi shot #2, B, and BB are awesome and Kent Impact #1 work well, and next year I am going to Federal Premium 3.5" Ultra Shok BB.

2 3/4 #4's Bismuth or Matrix, modified, deadly to 50-60 yds. Hevi shot kills just as well but will crack your teeth like steel. If you think these alloy shells are expensive, ask your dentist what a tooth implant or bridge costs.

Hevi shot may be more per shell ,but I have shot 34 shells ( reloads that are just a little faster than REM. stuff about $1.25 each) and gotten 32 geese . Thats a 94+ percent rate .
Whats your percent rate of pass and decoying 1/2 each ?
Also Hevi shot increases the ETHICAL range that you can drop geese from ,I am talking about breast pass thrue not just breaking of wings.
Also how many geese do you here hit or blow feathers off the chest that just keep flying
On a cripple ranged with a lazer range finder 7 pellets thrue the goose at 82 yds using a Briley Extended Mod choke in my 870
